VISION
To be a safe and warm space where community comes together to train their minds, support their bodies, and inspire each other to place the well-being of others first.
VALUES
Our intention is to inspire the community to take a personal journey that emphasizes mental and physical wellbeing.
We are led by skilled teachers, therapists and community partners.
We value donation-based and reduced-price services for the benefit of anyone committed to training their mind and body.
We support and collaborate with local organizations by providing space in which to meet and grow.
We support the development of future wellness teachers through mentoring and collaboration.
OUR ROOTS
Karma House is the vision of Sokuzan, the founding abbot of Sokukoji Buddhist monastery.
He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1959 and joined United States Marine Corps in an attempt to work with his own negativity and emotions.
Looking back, he wished he could have walked out of the high school and into a different kind of community in which he could fundamentally examine his own mind through movement, the arts, meditation, and other awareness practices.
He desires that all people from all backgrounds have a safe place where they can work with thoughts and emotions.
There have been countless volunteers over the years that have supported the renovation Meyer's Toy World into Karma House and it's current vision and mission. This would not have been possible without them.
